British Championships, Future Coaching and Compass Sport Cup

British Champs
Congratulations to everyone who ran at the British Championships this weekend. I've hunted through the results and think that I have all of the top 3 positions below:

W18S Alice Graham 1st
W20E Lizzie Adams 1st
W45L Jane Morgan 1st
W80 Jean Velecky 1st
M21L Petr Junek 1st
M35S Jamie Sutherland 3rd

Apologies to anyone I've missed out.

There were more successes at the relay today. After the relay training last Saturday, the SOC junior teams both had good runs, with the Mini Relay team of Jamie, Nick and Tim coming 8th. They still have 2 years left to run in this class so this promises well for the future. Lizzie Adams came back in 1st place on the Women's Premier for Sheffield Uni, making it a very successful weekend for her.

We have a few photos here.

Junior Training
There are plans afoot for another junior training session at the end of April. In addition, there may be some special exercises planned for the Lakeside event on 13 May. Watch this space for more information or get in touch with me (Christine).

Compass Sport Cup
It's the Compass Sport Cup first round next Sunday. For those who don't know, this is the national inter-clubs competition, with juniors, seniors and veterans all counting. Entries have closed for this year but look out for the adverts next year if you want to do it. For those who are doing it, I suggest that you have a fairly easy week of training to recover from the British and prepare for the trials of the Compass Sport Cup. Going to Hut Wood on Saturday would be ideal preparation, especially if you try to run fast and clean. Don't run too far though as you don't want to tire your legs out for the next day.

Mark Nixon has rejoijed SOC as his closed club. He was 7th on Men's21 Elite and in the third placed Edinburgh Uni relay team on the Men's open, he is runing for us at the CSC thisSunday where he'll do battle with another high flier - Graham Gristwood of Octavian Droobers. They are off 3 minutes apart!
